Ingredients

Smoked sausage
  • 2 packages (14 oz each) smoked sausage Slice into 1/2-inch coins.
Cranberry sauce glaze
  • 1 can (14 oz) whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 0.33333333333333 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp orange zest
Garnish
  • 1 Fresh thyme leaves For garnish.

Equipment

  • 1 sheet pan

Method

Roast the sausage
  1. Preheat oven to 400F and line a rimmed sheet pan with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Spread smoked sausage coins in a single layer, then roast for 12 minutes until browned at the edges (visual cue: edges turn deep golden).
Make and apply the cranberry glaze
  1. Whisk whole berry cranberry sauce, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes until smooth.
  2. Pour glaze over the hot sausage and toss to coat thoroughly (visual cue: coins look glossy and evenly covered).
Finish roasting and serve
  1. Roast 10-13 minutes more at 400F until glaze is sticky and bubbling (visual cue: syrupy bubbles cling to sausage).
  2. Toss with orange zest and fresh thyme leaves, then serve warm with toothpicks.

Notes

For the stickiest coating, toss the sausage with the glaze right after the first 12-minute roast so it clings before the second roasting. Store leftovers in the refrigerator up to 3 days; reheat on a sheet pan at 350F until hot and glossy. Freezing is not recommended because the cranberry sauce can become grainy after thawing. For a lower-sodium option, choose reduced-sodium smoked sausage and reduced-sodium cranberry sauce while keeping the same bake times.
